Ritu Upadhyay is the Middle East correspondent for Women’s Wear Daily, a daily newspaper based in New York considered the ‘bible’ of the global fashion industry. She covers the business side of retail and fashion along with trends and runway shows, bringing together a unique understanding of both the creative and commercial sides of the fashion industry. For the last ten years, she has covered international runways shows in emerging markets, reporting on new design talent from eastern markets. She has also profiled fashion luminaries including Elie Saab, Christian Louboutin and Giorgio Armani.

Ritu is also a contributor to Bloomberg Television and the Editorial Director of Dubai-based Global Citizen magazine.

Born and raised in Chicago, Ritu studied journalism and political science at Northwestern University. She began her career at the newsweekly, TIME Magazine, in New York. Ritu is married to a diplomat, Vinay Chawla, and together they have lived in India, Jordan, Pakistan and currently Dubai.
