BIOGRAPHY
 

Ronald is an emerging British-Lebanese designer, who launched his first ready-to-wear collection – X-Ray – in 2007. Evoking parts of the human body through elaborate embroideries, his aim was to glamorise the inner forms and skeleton as decorative motifs.

His talent was quickly recognised by the fashion industry, being hailed as a young designer “in the spirit, of fashion rebels like Jean-Paul Gaultier and Alexander McQueen, who dares to uncover beauty in the most unexpected of places”. Source: Robert Cordero reporting – JCReport – April 2008

Born in London in March 1979, his culturally diverse fashion style is a reflection of his rich international background, having lived and studied in several cities throughout his life – London, Lagos, Paris, Nice, Los Angeles, and Beirut.

His academic training in fashion design was completed in renowned design schools. Starting off with the Fashion Institute of Design and Marketing in Los Angeles in 1996, he then moved to Lebanon in 1999, where he was accepted at the Beirut filial of ESMOD. Graduating top of his class with a Bachelors Degree in Fashion Design, he was then accepted in 2002 at the prestigious Central Saint Martins School of Design in London to complete a two-year program, which included fashion marketing and experimental fashion.

In the summer of 2007, he opened his fashion design studio in Beirut, and launched his high-end women’s line under the “Ronald Abdala” label.

This young, edgy creator of a women’s ready-to-wear line, is also a gifted couturier of modern, glamorous couture gowns. His signature style include bias-cut gowns, elaborate draping, and creative themes of embellishments and embroideries, coupled with a passion for old Hollywood glamour and a reinterpretation of fashion’s golden age. Bold and architectural, yet sensual and feminine, his distinctive designs represent a unique interplay of western fashion modes and craftsmanship with traditional Middle Eastern elements and embellishments.

This balance of East and West is one of the hallmarks of his style and talent, and a key element of his line’s international appeal, as evidenced by celebrities wearing Ronald’s designs at red carpet events in Hollywood. Pushing the boundaries of creativity, he carries the promise of becoming a transformative force in fashion.
