Born and raised in Dubai, Khulood Thani is the first UAE national to hold a degree in Fashion Management and Marketing from ESMOD Paris. She also studied at London College of Fashion and Central Saint Martins, and received a Masters degree in Strategic Marketing from the University of Wollongong and a B.A. in Marketing Communication from Zayed University in Dubai. 

She works from her experimental studio set in Dubai’s industrial area of Al Quoz, where she runs her own design-ordinated contemporary brand “BINT THANI” in Ready-to-Wear and soft accessories plus she writes about fashion and culture for a number of leading regional publications. Recently, she curated the UAE’s first fashion exhibition, DE.FASH.STRUCTION, in 1971 Design Space in Sharjah. Khulood has been the first Emirati to represents the UAE in the “NEXT IN LINE”, in the International Fashion Showcase 2016 that happened during the London Fashion Week, her piece was commissioned by the British Council in the UAE and endorsed by Dubai Design and Fashion council.  

Recent artistic projects are, “BETWEEN THE DUNES”, where she created a dress out of laser cut layers with unconventional accessory made of camel leather, the project has been showcased in “Contemporary Venice” in Venice and “Wasl, Dubai’s Guest City Programme” during Beijing Design Week 15 in China. Plus designing Dubai’s first 3D printed dress “URBAN CORP” in collaboration with INTER | ACT, presented in Meet D3, in Dubai Design District in April-15, and then collaborating with “Architectural Digest Middle-East “House-a-Porter Project”, in making a dress using of hosiery fabrics. Khulood is also a founding member of Design Ras Al Khor initiative, a design initiative that focuses on design research, innovation and material exploration, the first edition of (DRAK) was launched during the first ever Dubai Design Week in October last year.
